Manufactured Housing Gets New York State’s Attention
Housing Commissioner, State Senators Impressed with Manufactured Homes
Recently, New York State Homes and Community Renewal Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas, Senator Betty Little, Senator Joseph Griffo and their staffs spent the day visiting the Champion Home Builders Titan Homes Division factory in Sangerfield, N.Y. and Jensen’s Cherrywood Community in Clinton, N.Y.
The officials toured the entire factory, beginning at the frame building department, continuing through each station in the building process. The officials asked great questions and received excellent answers from the Titan staff. The officials also, had an opportunity to tour manufactured homes on display.
Following the factory tour, the officials were escorted by NYHA Executive Director Nancy Geer and NYHA Legislative Counsel Mark Glaser to Jensen’s Cherrywood Community in Clinton, N.Y. Jensen’s Cherrywood Community is a 55+ Community with many amenities near Utica, N.Y. The officials again had many questions about manufactured home community operations.
Following that, a short tour of the community and its expansion project took place. Two different homeowners opened up their homes for the officials to tour. Each home had an attached two car garage and was beautifully decorated and landscaped. One of the homes was on a full basement that the officials got to see and learn how manufactured homes have a variety of foundation options. The day concluded with the officials sharing their great impressions of the day’s activities. Homes and Community Renewal has oversight over several manufactured housing regulatory mandates. Senator Little represents the 45th District and is the Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Housing, Construction and Community Development. Senator Griffo represents the 47th District in which both the Titan Homes factory and Cherrywood Community are located.
NYHA is looking forward to hosting other Commissioners and Secretaries of the state’s many agencies that have oversight over the industry. Anyone interested in more information on the tours may contact Nancy Geer at firstname.lastname@example.org or 800-721-HOME.
