More than 125 association members attended the 66th NYHA Annual Convention October 13 & 14, 2016 at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y. The conference started with a very informative presentation, Housing Trends & Projections, by Joe Kimmell, Northeast Regional Vice President, Champion Home Builders. Tom Heinemann, Vice President of Federal Government Affairs for the Manufactured Housing Institute gave the National Issue Perspective. New York State Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Morelle joined us for the Luncheon as our special guest speaker.

Thursday afternoon was jam packed with very informative seminars. We had a Retail Lending Panel Discussion made up of David Finney, 21st Mortgage; Rich D’Elia, First Credit Corp; Tim Nolan, MHD Empire Service Corp and Brian Hines, Priority Funding. Michael Slocum, Esq. of Greenberg Traurig presented a session on New Employer Rules, Overtime, Paid Family Leave & More. Mark Glaser, Esq. of Greenberg Traurig presented a Community Managers session which included information on Service Animals, a STAR update, Net Leases, and much more. Rob Peterson of CU Factory Built Lending presented a session on Best Practices for Manufactured Housing Finance. Bill Sherman and Brian Tollisen from the NYS Dept of State Division of Building Codes & Standards gave attendees a NYS Building Code Update. Marc Lifset, Esq. and Jeffrey Barringer, Esq. of McGlinchey Stafford presented a session on NYS Lender Licensing Requirements and Structuring a “True” Lease to Own. David Finney of 21st Mortgage presented a session entitled Making the Most of Digital Marketing. There was a lot of new information to digest!

The 66th Annual Awards Dinner featured special recognition of the exhibitors and sponsors of the convention. NYHA President and John Jacon of Champion Homes-Titan presented the 2016 Hall of Fame Award to John Copeletti for his 25+ year career with the manufactured housing industry.

Friday morning started with the Manufactured Home Communities Council Meeting and the Manufactured & Modular Council Meeting with an Albany Update by Mark Glaser. The conference ended with the 66th Annual Meeting of association members. The proposed 2017 Budget passed by vote. The Officers of the Association were elected for 2017. They are President Bob Capenos, 1st Vice President Joe Bushey, 2nd Vice President Peter Mastropoalo, Treasurer Robin Pfeil and Secretary Bill Wagner. The Modular Building Systems Council electd Governors: Joe Bushey, G & I Homes; Peter Mastropoalo, Foxwood Village; Jason McMillen, New Era Homes; Neil Bandel, Interstate Homes and Pat Furlong, Furdi’s. The Manufactured Housing Council elected Governors: Robin Pfeil, Triton Valley Estates; Pat Fiederer, Latham Homesl Gary Reibert, Homestead Quality Homes; John Copeletti, Champion Homes – Titan and Joe Bono, Bono Brothers MHC. Manufactured Home Communities Council elected Governors: Steve Hoffman, Hoffman Homes; Thomas O’Brien, Garden Homes Management; David Harper, Harper Sales; Steven Newman, Rural Home Communities, and new member Anita Bruckner, Rockbridge Realty Group.

Plans are well underway for the 67th NYHA Annual Convention to be held October 5 & 6, 2017 at Turning Stone Resort.
